Kitchen Diary

Cape Town is having the most glorious weather....the sun is shining, there is just a gentle breeze to cool things down (well here where I live anyway!) the birdsong is bright and beautiful, the bees are busy...

.......and I'm also a busy bee in the kitchen. It is the time of year when the enticing spicy aromas of Christmas cakes baking in the brownie oven wafts over the breeze to tempt the neighbours nostrils...in between that I also have a chocolate cake in the oven for a 90th birthday tomorrow. So all in all life is quite pleasantly chaotic at the moment. Brownieboy is managing about 5 hours at work a day now, with lots of walking inbetween. He is struggling to sit for longer than 20 minutes at a time. Shame he has a big meeting this morning so will have to do much pacing while its going on...

And then......the brownies went and saw their first sunset since 'the accident' at the beginning of July. That is a long time for me as I am a sunset chaser of note!! We took a drive to Noordhoek and sat and looked out over the Atlantic where we had a great view of Kommetjie and the Slangkop lighthouse to the left and granny's mountain to the right! It was wonderful.........we had planned to go Monday night to watch the momentous photographic occasion when the moon rose almost simultaneously with the setting sun but it was not too be as there was too much cloud cover.

Off to check on the cakes, the aroma is enticing so it's almost time now to take them out!!
